Nervous [nur-vuhs]: adjective

  1. highly excitable; unnaturally or acutely uneasy or apprehensive: to become nervous under stress.
  2. of or relating to the nerves: nervous tension.
  3. affecting the nerves: nervous diseases.

Nervousness is often a hard emotion to spot; it can easily hide, masked as any number of emotions. It’s power can be overwhelming, forcing us into tense-filled states. It often includes changes in the heartbeat, and a parasympathetic response which can leave us slightly altered. We often get nervous due to an emotional response, but physically bursts of adrenaline are being released giving us a jittery feeling resulting in shaking hands, inability to maintain communication patterns and fear of general interactions.

Yeah, all of that sounds awful, but nervousness pushes us to our boundaries and forces us into new and evidently scary territory. It’s here that despite success or failure, growth is inevitable. Feeling nervous is often an uncomfortable state of existence, and it can be harnessed to help us strive to overcome adversity and failure.
