Terror | noun |ter·ror | ˈte-rər|
1 : a state of intense or overwhelming fear
2 : violence or the threat of violence used as a weapon of intimidation or coercion
3 : a very frightening or terrifying aspect the terrors of war
4 : someone or something that inspires fear
Terror is the last of our base emotions to explore. It is the extreme form of fear. It induces a debilitating response that is uncontrollable and within the moment, nearly impossible to overcome. The power which terror holds within our daily existence is small, true terror is something many of us may never experience, at least not in a violent since. That which may terrify us is actually deep fear, but in those moments that terror is in legitimate control, a person’s response is incalculable, and their ability to control their behavior is extremely limited.
