Passion being ardent affection, nothing else really describes that as well as wanting someone so bad that you couldn’t even breathe. Ok, Go has always been able to explore the emotional minefield that is the human experience with a bit more brevity and light-heartedness. The music feels like it turns an intense situation like uncontrollable emotional response into something more innocent and easily digestible.

To be so overcome with emotion to be moved to physical impact is something we typically only read about, and then, in turn, begin to fantasize about said experience. Not that we want to feel the sensation of asphyxiation, at least not most of us, but to feel an intense response such as the one described. Our lives of routine can quickly create states of complacency leading to lethargy, creating a desire to feel anything that isn’t what we feel on a perpetual basis. The desire to even yearn for something such as passion makes sense, we want what we don’t currently have, and we often take for granted that which we covet once we’ve received it.

We’ve established that passion is often the fuel used to power ourselves into creating and pursuing our desires, and we’ve also explored a little on how Passion can ultimately lead to a blinding response, masking consequences behind blinding desires. The duality in response to passion is an excellent example of how even some of the most romanticized emotions bring both positives and negatives to all its interactions.

Lyrics:

[Verse 1]
In your fitted raincoat and tangled winter hair
Cheeks a little rosy in the February air
And running through the subway to catch the uptown train
Spend the night just dancing
And running through the subway to catch the uptown train
Spend the night just dancing

[Chorus]
I want ya
Yeah, I want ya
I want you
Yeah, I want you bad
So bad, I can’t think straight
So bad, all my bones shake
So bad, I can’t breathe

[Verse 2]
And in the midnight quiet, outside the world away
We could have just one more, maybe you could stay
And in the light of morning for twenty-one days straight
There you are beside me
And in the light of morning for twenty-one days straight
There you are beside me

[Chorus]
I want you
Yeah, I want you
I want you
Yeah, I want you bad
So bad, I can’t think straight
So bad, all my bones shake
So bad, I can’t breathe

[Bridge]
So won’t’cha?
Oh, won’t’cha say it?
So won’t’cha?
Oh, won’t’cha give in?
So won’t’cha?
Oh, won’t’cha, come on?
Oh, oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh, I can’t breathe

[Chorus]
‘Cause I want ya
Yeah, I want ya
I want you
Yeah, I want ya bad
So bad, I can’t think straight
So bad, all my bones shake
So bad, I can’t breathe

[Outro]
Oh, I want you
Yeah, I want ya
So bad, I can’t breathe
Oh, I want you
Yeah, I want ya
So bad, I can’t breathe
Oh, I want you, I want you
Oh, oh, oh, I want you, yeah I want you
So bad, I can’t breathe
(I want ya, I want ya)
So bad, I can’t breathe
Oh, I can’t breathe
