Strategic Communications
A propensity in Strategic Communications means that one can orchestrate and conduct the ideation and execution of communication campaigns. This is to include understanding how all the elements from Advertising to Brand Development, Copywriting, Content Development, Public Relations, and SEO/SEM work cohesively to bring the desired message to its correct audience.
Advertising
Advertising is all about how to get a brand, product, service, event, or message out to an audience as efficiently as possible. This is as much Strategic Communications as anything else, and it also defines itself by its ability to manage the business and administrative side of a campaign. Establishing a campaign by numbers as much as a good idea is an imperative of all Advertising.
Brand Development
Brand Development is a critical element in establishing a look and feel for an organization. If there is no consistency in the look, feel, and voice, potential consumers will have no way to build a sincere connection with whatever product or services are being offered. Ensuring brand voice through proper consistency, strategy, and execution helps deliver a highly effective and engaging presentation. Branding guidelines are a significant step at any point in establishing these roles.
Copywriting
Copywriting is imperative to all forms of written communication. Whether its emails, newsletters, Press Releases, tweets, or promotional text words, their placement and their flow are all essential elements to take into consideration. The thought of forgoing different technologies in the minds of most of today’s children is unfathomable; for them to be disconnected is the social equivalent of being forgotten by their friends.
Content Development
Content Development encompasses the production and execution of all content required for a brand’s image, to include graphics for online and social media distribution. This is separate for Graphic Design in that it considers the analytics and marketing research to produce the most highly effective design and not just the “best-looking design.” It’s often tricky for Graphic Designers to create for a function, and not just for aesthetics, thanks to Branding Guidelines, a lot of the questioning is taken out of the equation.
Metric & Analytics
Data is the core of any active business or organization. Precise analysis allows you to make clear and concise decisions about how to effectively maximize your efforts, ensuring that you’re receiving the best return on investments out of your systems and work-time. Every service, product, and industry is different, as are their target audiences; developing your ways of tracking specific analytics for your business is an easier task than not. Learning a few key areas will go a long way in monitoring your online performance, and if nothing else will help you evaluate any of analytic/insight reports, you may be handed in the future.
Public Relations
Public relations, or PR, is how you talk about your brand to the public – and therefore, potential new customers – through the media and social influencers. PR doesn’t have to be costly. A PR campaign can just as quickly involve a few great emails to crucial reporters and a smart hashtag. Good PR drives brand awareness and sales. Successful PR makes your brand image even stronger.
SEO/SEM
SEO/SEM is significant, not only for your sites but for your information that you’re publicly releasing. Knowing the right keywords isn’t just about sounding strong, but being able to touch on those golden phrases that also perform strongly in searches.
