Justice… for myself, this song has exemplified Joy for nearly 12 years now. It was one of the first songs I ever performed a “light-show” to, and to this day, it’s one of the first songs I put on when practicing.
Light-Dancing is something I never imagined being engaged in, mainly because I could never have pictured its existence. Up until a few years ago many tools used for light dancing didn’t really exist and if they did their earlier predecessors had to prohibit entry costs. When I learned that something like this existed, I was hooked.
As an individual that’s always been a little bigger, dancing hasn’t been the first thing I’ve jumped at doing, but being able to take lights, and make moving images with them has brought a new level of experience to dancing. Now it’s something hard not to do. I catch myself listening to songs wondering how I could perform a “show” to it.
I have a deeper understanding now for performers that get “lost” in their movement. For the first few seconds I may be thinking about how I look, or how others think I look, then just like a switch being flipped, there is nothing else, there is only the music, and for me, the lights that I dance with.
Over the last 12 years of performing the quality of tools used have improved dramatically, and at a pace, I would never have imagined. Where once I was dancing with Velcro camping lights on my fingers, I now control an endless series of light combinations that I can change on a whim. I know I’ve talked about being displeased with the future before, but this is one small element that I never could have accounted for, and it’s really freaking cool.
I’ve had a myriad of experiences while performing, fortunately, most positive through and through, but almost every one of them ended on extremely positive notes. Some people enter in highly skeptical or assuming you must be extremely intoxicated to enjoy the effects, but, light shows are enjoyable to most at any point. If done right a person is left with a look of bewilderment like a child first seeing magik. That sort of joy is addicting, and I most certainly thrive off it.
Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Do the D-A-N-C-E
One, two, three, four, fight!
Stick to the B-E-A-T
Get ready to ignite
You were such a P-Y-T
Catching all the lights
Just easy as A-B-C
That’s how you make it right!
Do the D-A-N-C-E
One, two, three, four, fight!
Stick to the B-E-A-T
Get ready to ignite
You were such a P-Y-T
Catching all the lights
Just easy as A-B-C
That’s how you make it right!
[Bridge]
Do the D-A-N-C-E
Stick to the B-E-A-T
Just easy as A-B-C
[Chorus]
Do the dance, do the dance
The way you move is a mystery
Do the dance
You’re always there for music and me
Do the dance
The way you move is a mystery
Do the dance
You’re always there for music and me
