Following on the heels of our Bachelorette/Bachelor party a month and a half later was our wedding. This song was the primary source of inspiration for the actual “party” aspect of our wedding; and if I do say so myself, I think we hit it out of the park.
In that, this song comprises both creative geniuses of two of our favorite bands, (Daft Punk and Animal Collective via Panda Bear,) since its release it has been on a continuous loop in every car, and on every device we own.
Honestly, I never had a specific image of the person I would marry, I assumed we would obviously like each other, (hopefully love one another,) and probably share a majority of our core beliefs, but the old adage of marrying your best friend seemed a little far-fetched to me. Finding someone that you’re able to be raw, honest and authentically you in all capacities, that’s the basis of a “best friend” relationship; I definitely lucked out and have been able to begin building my life with my best friend.
She puts up with my crazy moods, and even better my crazy ideas; they don’t all pan out, but that’s not really ever the focus for her, at least from my perception, it’s in the process of figuring it out together.
Example 2,012,567: having an idea of turning our wedding into a music festival was only met with resounding support. We tried to create a solution for every nuance to the festival experience. We sent tickets out as wedding invitations with all the necessary information. We enlisted close friends to be security, checking people as they came in, (also distributing gift bags, and wristbands,) there was merch tables, and vendor booth, we had planned entertainment, and even a silent disco. Unfortunately, a majority of the bands we approached to play never got back to us, and those that did were well outside our budget but did send their well-wishes. Regardless, it was a festival in spirit and execution.
“If you lose your way tonight that’s how you know the magick’s right…” it’s safe to say our attendees most certainly went on a trip that night, and most probably found themselves lost at one point or another in a myriad of ways, yet everyone was always led back to the hearth. We were fortunate to have a collection of people that took the festival theme literally, showing up prepared for a festival, and subsequently enjoying themselves just as any other festival. I couldn’t have imagined a more joyous representation of our relationship.
When I started this week, I knew I wanted to play with lights, and cameras, this was met not only with support but a sincere enthusiasm that has always been present and still pushing the endless adventure we’ve decided to take together.
