During catastrophic change sometimes, all we can do is submit. The main difference I’m continuously discovering between Acceptance and Submission is Acceptance has the act of being able to agree to the reality one faces, whereas in Submission there is no choice, there is one reality whether its something that is accepted or not.
Is it a futile effort to continue fighting in a situation where submission seems to be the only path to resolution? If you’re in a lose-lose situation then wouldn’t you want to go down giving it everything you had? Or would you instead go quietly to make the process that much easier?
I like to think I’m the type of person to give every last bit that I have, to fight tooth and nail for my beliefs, and the values I want to see preserved. It’s easy to have that outlook when there’s nothing immediately threatening you.
After hearing the political speeches from our current leadership earlier this evening, it’s hard not letting the angst consume me. Just like many, the last two and half years have felt in many ways like a haze of confusion, continually having to double-check if what we saw and heard from our leaders was actually true; because competent adults shouldn’t be having this much difficulty maintaining a system that has been running for hundreds of years.
When I first came across this song, I was in the process of learning how to accept the things I have no control over and understanding that submitting to the will of whatever is in power is well beyond my comprehension, so ultimately there’s No Need to Worry. Nearly 12 years later I’m still finding solace in this song for the same reasons.
Lyrics:
Sister, won’t you rise with me?
Run ‘way from your grave
Father set our house to flame
Please his newfound lady
Brother, won’t you steal away?
Dreams of night at play
Father set our house ablaze
Blackened stones, I beg you, speak
Of the murderous hand
Words will never sound again
On this shallow land
Blackened sky, I beg you, weep
What the day has lost
No one left to weep for us
No need to worry
We’ll get some jewelry for your momma
No need to worry
We’ll get some jewelry for your momma
No need to worry
We’ll get some jewelry for your momma
Cinders of gold
Cinders of gold
Cinders of gold
Cinders of gold
