Being able to find a connection to someone, something, or even someplace is often a gift taken for granted. We agree to many things, consciously and subconsciously. These decisions have collectively shaped how we evaluate the world around us, and how we continue to build something together.

We have the power to look within, to identify that which we can truly connect with, and shape our own realities to meet our truest desires. I understand this sounds pretty “hooby-scooby,” but I really couldn’t care less. There are many people out in the world utilizing this same practice, and their intent isn’t as pure or altruistic as you may believe.

The connections we decide to forge are the areas in which we determine our energies are best spent, and best used in cultivating a tomorrow that is aligned with where we desire to be. It’s important that we take as many opportunities as possible to reflect on what that means, and looks like for ourselves. We manifest the futures that we call-in, it’s for this reason we learn to be specific and precise with our envisioning of tomorrow.

Futurists often describe an impending shift in our way of life. Hollywood has turned this message into the “doom and gloom,” which seems to consistently sell seats. We have such immense potential, and power, yet we focus on creating things that glorify and fetishize our own destructions. I’m guilty of this, just as much as anyone else. I’ve seen the movies, shows, books, music, all talking about “the end of the world, but don’t worry you’ll be dead,” theme.

There is an amazing womyn by the name of Starhawk. She is a different kind of futurist. She saw the mass media that continued to propagate a destructive vision for the future and began to question if what started off as entertainment has devolved into a self-fulfilling prophecy. Instead of seeing a dystopian future rise from the crumbling foothold of the modern world, she began to formulate a utopia built out of necessity. Who is reasoning being, “why not?” Why continue feeding into the negative elements of the future when we have the power to do so much more?

Lyrics:

You sigh low tonight
You’re so alone
You’re so
You sigh low tonight
You’re so alone
You’re so
You’re so low
You’re so alone
You’re so
You sigh low
You sigh low
You’re so
(you’re so)

you sigh low tonight
You’re so alone
You’re so
You sigh low tonight
You’re so alone
You’re so
You’re so low
You’re so alone
You’re so
You sigh low
You sigh low
You’re so
