What will undoubtedly go down as one of the best years of my life, 2017, saw so many amazing moments and memories? One of the top ones on that list would have to be the fantastic Bachelorette/Bachelor party that we threw with our friends.
My wife and I spent a lot of time contemplating what this ritual experience meant to us. We felt that since our relationship started at a music festival, and that our wedding was festival themed, might as well take it all the way with the conceptual theme, and turn our Bachelorette/Bachelor party into an excuse for a festival trip. Fortunately, we were accompanied by one of the best wedding parties that could ever be comprised.
We thought long and hard of what would be the best festival to try and pursue. We discussed how going to Vegas is commonplace, not because of the opportunity of debauchery, but because it caters a little to everyone. This led us to Coachella. What has become known as one of the largest festivals in the world, Coachella has prided itself on being able to deliver an indelible experience suited for nearly any patron. These claims seemed dubious at best and were primary reasons why we had always abstained. Surely not one festival can be everything for everyone. Despite this, we still had attempted over the years in securing tickets only to be one person too late in the digital queue. After trying for the third year straight in 2014, we decided to give up on the festival altogether.
In 2016 when we were starting the process of deciding specifics for our wedding, Coachella came up once more, and by that point, we had become smarter in the entire process. Instead of waiting for the lineup to drop and decide whether it was worth it, we opted to purchase tickets regardless. This was the trick, and this insured that we were going to be able to go. This song became the anthem for the trip, and subsequently for the year of 2017.
I’m blessed to have many memories that upon recollection they instantly transport me back to a moment, watching Clasixx perform this to a half-filled tent while Lady Gaga drew in most of the 90,000+ attendees is one of the best moments. Right before this song played our group who had been separated throughout the night somehow managed to find their way back to one another with little to no prompting… the magik of the music festival. Seeing so many smiling faces, and faces of friends and family I had never been able to share this particular kind of experience created with of the joyous memories I have to cherish.
Lyrics:
[Intro: T-Pain]
Put your hands up, listen
Go do whatever you want
Put your hands up
Go do, go do whatever you want
[Verse 1: T-Pain]
I can fly, I can scale a tall building in a leap
I’m a robot, I don’t really need no sleep
I can breathe underwater, I can swim for days
I do whatever I want and disappear in a haze
I’mma let you think ’bout that
I’mma let you think ’bout that
[Pre-Chorus: T-Pain]
Ain’t nothing you can do about it
Ain’t nothing you can say to me
Oh no, they can’t stop me now
I’mma do whatever I want
[Chorus: T-Pain]
I can do anything I want
I don’t give a damn
Cause you just get the consequence
And all I get is confidence
To do whatever I want
I can do anything I want
I don’t give a damn
Cause you just get the consequence
And all I get is confidence
Do whatever I want
Do whatever I want
[Pre-Chorus: T-Pain]
Ain’t nothing you can do about it
Ain’t nothing you can say to me
Oh no, they can’t stop me now
I’mma do whatever I want
[Chorus: T-Pain]
I can do anything I want
I don’t give a damn
Cause you just get the consequence
And all I get is confidence
To do whatever I want
I can do anything I want
I don’t give a damn
Cause you just get the consequence
And all I get is confidence
Do whatever I want
Do whatever I want
